Ford B-Max offers access for all with a Turnout swivel seat
Swedish Autoadapt collaborates with Ford dealers in a program focused on mobility solutions for people with limited mobility. With social responsibility as a strategic base, Ford of Spain and its Spanish dealer network now offer turnkey adapted vehicles directly to their customers.
Autoadapt developed a special version of their popular swivel base Turnout for the program. Both crash and tensile tested along with a seat with an integrated belt, the solution is homologated as a separate technical unit with the Ford B-Max converted in Spain.
"It pleases me immensely when companies of Ford's calibre take people with limited mobility seriously. The requirements for safety set by the automotive industry is not only a recognition of us as a supplier, it is also a benchmark for the entire vehicle adaptation industry. In a sense, you could say that Ford has made accessibility more accessible", says Peter Wahlsten, Autoadapt Executive Vice President.
The big challenge for Autoadapt was Ford’s model B-Max, with its unique B-pillar-free design, it provides both exceptionally good legroom for the transfer to and from the wheelchair, and has the belt attachment integrated into the seat. To ensure that each adapted Ford B-Max can measure up to the same safety requirements as their non adapted counterparts Autoadapt chose to create a total solution that includes swivel base, seat with an integrated belt and a mounting bracket designed specifically for the Ford B-Max. All parts of the solution have passed both crash and tensile tests together.
"For us it is a given that everyone, regardless of their disability should be able to travel safely", concludes Peter Wahlsten, Executive Vice President at Autoadapt.
